18 Niches is a place making project created by Jackie Ferrara. Her focus with this piece is to create a space for audiences to contemplate and invest themselves in the space. The goal of this work is to create connections to the space through these unique niches she has crafted. Each niche is designed to look like a version of the skyline of the city, but reimagined in her own way. The niches feature formations from only four colours of bricks to create her new skyline towers.

The presence, or lack thereof, of women in public art, is an undeniable fact. Lucky for us, the city of Toronto and this BIA have some striking examples of women artists. This is why we curated this route to highlight their work!
