The Royal Alexandra Theatre, commonly known as the Royal Alex was built in 1907. The 1,244-seat Royal Alex is the oldest continuously operating theatre in North America. Refurbished in 2016, the Royal Alexandra Theatre hosts phenomenal stage performances from London, New York, and around the world including locally developed shows from Toronto. When the theatre reopens, visitors are welcome to stop by the Royal Alex ticketing kiosk to catch an evening show under the bright lights of the marquee or catch an afternoon matinee show on Sundays.
